Working in collaboration with Red Brick Research, YGAM are proud to be supporting the Global Student Living Conference 2018 at the University of Leicester. The day will bring together leading international experts from the UK & Ireland, Europe, Australia, North America and over 200 fellow professionals for an insightful day, learning from the sector leaders who are developing and delivering successful student wellbeing strategies and solutions.

The morning will kick-off with a series of powerful strategic keynote sessions leading us from the policy context to real-world insight. In the afternoon, three concurrent streams of workshops, case studies and seminars to provide insight on key topics. Mike Wojcik, Chief Executive of Queen Mary, University of London Students union and YGAM Trustee along with Lee Willows, Founder & Chief Executive of YGAM will deliver a workshop around financial empowerment and tackling student gambling.

Mike Wojcki says ‘As Chief Executive of the Students Union at Queen Mary, University of London it has become apparent there is rise of gambling, particularly sports betting among students, as well and digital gaming. While I am sure many gamble within their means, there is a growing evidence base that seems to suggest students see gambling as a way to make money or wipe off some of their student debt. There are also wider welfare and mental health considerations. Raising awareness, building financial and digital resilience amount students is an important piece of work and I am delighted to be a Trustee with YGAM who deliver precisely this. I congratulate RedBrick Research for organising this conference which will look at a range of health & wellbeing strategies for students, but without a doubt we need to be doing far more around resilience and at YGAM we are keen to collaborate with partners in this space.

Lee Willows says ‘Figures from the UK Gambling Commission cite that 1.2 million students gamble. Whilst many students gamble without experiencing harm, for some gambling can lead to debt, time away from lectures and potentially lead to a longer-term problem with gambling. Part of YGAM’s social purpose is to encourage universities to provide the same level of information and support about the risks from gambling as they do for drugs, alcohol and safe sex. We are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute our thinking and learning to such an important event and look forward in particular to discussing how YGAM might collaborate with leaders in this space to promote safer gambling’.

YGAM is a UK-Registered Charity, which is building digital resilience in young people, students and vulnerable adults. The charity’s social purpose is to inform, educate, and safeguard young people against problematic gambling and social gaming. YGAM’s impact contributes to the UK’s National Responsible Gambling Strategy, which is led by the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board.

YGAM has two principle products. The first is accredited workshops where the charity trains and certifies teachers, youth workers, community mental health colleagues, prison & probation colleagues, and community volunteers to deliver the YGAM gambling & gaming-related harm prevention programme to young people and students. The second product is university based, where the charity works in partnership with universities to train year two & three students to become YGAM Peer Mentors. Trained Peer Mentors are then employed part-time to deliver a range of gambling & gaming-related harm prevention programmes and awareness campaigns within their universities and local communities using our educational resources. I had problems with potency, so I decided to buy Levitra. From my own experience of use, I can say that it acts very effectively and for a long time. In general, it solves problems with potency, so I can recommend it.

The YGAM programme and our resources have been accredited and quality-assured by the Ofqual approved Awarding Body Pearson & ASDAN and are quality-assured by the PSHE Association. In addition, we have achieved the prestigious Pearson Assured quality-standard for the content and educational rigour of our education resources. YGAM’s programmes have been evaluated by City, University of London & University of East London and we are proudly an accredited Investors in People employer. Finally, YGAM is regulated by the UK Charity Commission and the UK Fundraising Regulator. No other education programme globally has such robust foundations.
