YGAM is continuously evolving the model for its Board structure to be fit-for-purpose as a contemporary and agile charity responding to young adults’ education needs around safer gambling and gaming.

As a challenger-charity that is rapidly growing in its social impact and geographical footprint in the United Kingdom, it was critical to add additional specialists to the composition of the Board. Moreover, the Trustees had to share our energetic commitment to work collaboratively with operators and principle stakeholders in contributing to the National Responsible Gaming Strategy. In the first of a two-part phase of recruiting specialist knowledge and competencies, the charity recognized the requirement for senior professionals with a track record in Marketing and Communications to help guide outward-facing activities. Their brief is to extend the reach and influence of YGAM’s education services in a hyper-connected digital era targeting formal and informal Education professionals; Heath professionals; colleagues from Local Authorities and Parliamentarians.

Hayley Pegden has joined bringing with her knowledge and experience in Communications and Marketing from within the Third Sector, including local authority, NHS, higher education and the charity sector. Hayley is currently responsible for marketing strategy and student recruitment campaigns for a higher education institution. Bijan White joins with a track record in both client-side Digital transformation on a global scale, and Media Agency experience across Europe for leading worldwide networks WPP and Omnicom. Working with super-brands such as McDonald’s, L’Oreal and Fiat, he has held agency Board positions in the UK and in Denmark.

To help maximize the outputs of the Board, Sarah Gosling has joined as Secretary to the Board. Sarah is an experienced charity chief executive, Trustee and a governance specialist. Prior to her move to the charity sector, Sarah worked in banking, mainly in IT. As these first waves of senior joiners settle into their roles we are about to start on the second round of recruitment to further strengthen our 21st century Board of Directors. Details of this second recruitment round will be published in October and will demonstrate a marked change as to how we intend to work with licensed gambling operators and international gaming; fostering long-term relationships and promoting the very essence of exemplar Corporate Social Responsibility.
