In partnership with Gibraltar’s Department of Education and Ministry of Youth, and supported by BetVictor, a Gibraltar licenced remote gambling operator, YGAM were delighted to be invited to train senior education leaders and youth workers in October 2016.

Over two days, colleagues from the two schools, college and youth service enjoyed an impactful and informative training workshop, exploring the YGAM programme and how it could be implemented in PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic education) provision in Gibraltar.

Suzanne Young, Responsible Gaming Manager for BetVictor said ‘We first came across the work of YGAM in October 2015 when we heard Lee speak at the World Regulatory Briefing on Responsible Gambling in London. We saw an immediate synergy between what Lee wanted to achieve and our aspiration to safeguard young people from gambling-related harm here in Gibraltar. We are proud to support YGAM and are looking forward to developing our relationship further as we enter 2017.’

The YGAM team went over to Gibraltar for an initial visit in June 2016 to meet key stakeholders and gauge their appetite. That visit was hugely successful and YGAM were delighted to conduct a return visit in October 2016 and help to facilitate Department of Education and Ministry of Youth training. This provided a great opportunity for BetVictor staff to volunteer and hear first-hand teachers and youth workers comments on the YGAM programme. It was such a success; the YGAM team have been invited back in March 2017 to facilitate further training.

In addition, YGAM also facilitated a training workshop for BetVictor’s own responsible gaming team around safeguarding and harm-minimisation, which was impactful, relevant and thought provoking. Off the back of this training, BetVictor are looking to build upon some of their player protection policies to strengthen messages around safeguarding. Viagra generic has a good price, and it helps really, and the quality is highest. My wife is 20 years younger, just recently signed, I don’t feel like embarrassing, but I know that at the most crucial moment it could be. “Viagra” helps out. I drank a pill, or rather you can even say chewed, you do not need to drink it, and that’s all, it’s ready “for work and defense”. I’ve taken it several times, until it fails.

Mark Zammit, Principal Youth Officer, Gibraltar Youth Service said ‘My team and I enjoyed participating in the YGAM training. We learnt a lot over the day and heard powerful stories from Anne and Lee around the potential risks to young people. The educational resources YGAM have developed are extensive, easy to use and certainly give us the tools to implement the programme here with little effort from our side. I am keen when YGAM return, that all my trainee youth workers and members of our youth board participate as it is such an important topic to which little is known about’.

Anne & Keith Evans, YGAM Trustee’s said ‘We have accompanied Lee and Adrian now on a number of YGAM workshops and are thrilled at the response we receive. Teachers time and time again see the value of the YGAM programme and cannot wait to get started and embed it in their local school or college curriculum. Gibraltar was no different, the teachers and youth workers were generous with their time and genuinely interested in what we delivered. Both Keith and I are very much looking forward to our return visit in March next year to hear of the progress they have made and to support the next wave of training.’

Lee Willows, Chief Executive, YGAM said ‘I am enormously grateful to BetVictor and the teaching community in Gibraltar for welcoming YGAM with open arms. We had a busy few days and were humbled at the response and enthusiasm to our programme. I came away feeling that we have developed some good friendships and look forward to our return visit.’
