Strategy 2023: Safeguarding Our Digital Generation

Ygam has published an ambitious new strategy which outlines the charity’s vision, mission and plans for the coming years.

After welcoming a new Chief Executive in January 2022, Ygam has spent the last 12 months reflecting on progress in previous years and evaluating their role in the sector. After appointing an independent facilitator to lead the process, Ygam has engaged with a diverse range of stakeholders and staff to develop a strategy which shapes the future direction of the organisation.

Hosted by Damian Collins MP, Ygam are holding a Parliamentary Reception in Westminster this afternoon to launch the new strategy alongside their new branding. The event will bring together a wide range of guests including MPs, government officials, regulators, charities, academics, policy makers, and other key stakeholders who support Ygam’s social purpose.

Dr Jane Rigbye, Chief Executive said: “Ygam are committed to effective prevention of both gaming and gambling harms. This can only be done by engaging and collaborating with those who have lived experience, ensuring our programmes and resources are coproduced with both our direct beneficiaries – those that we train – and the ultimate beneficiaries; young people themselves.”

“Collaboration has been the key to our success so far – but there is always more to do. We have set our ambitions high with this new, three-year rolling strategy. We are grateful to our partners and supporters, and we invite you to join us as we continue our journey, working together to innovate and stay ahead of emerging risks, and bridging the gap between the digital knowledge of those who can influence children and young people, and the digital futures that those children and young people are already living.”

“Together, we can help ensure that all children and young people are resilient to, and safeguarded against, the risks related to gaming and gambling, and we can enable the youth of today to live the happy, healthy digital futures they deserve.”
