YGAM Innovation Limited, is the trading subsidiary of the UK-Registered Charity Young Gamblers Education Trust (or YGAM as we are known). All profits generated by our trading subsidiary are donated to YGAM, to facilitate income diversification by way of unrestricted funds which will enable the charity to have a greater social reach.

YGAM Innovation Limited have been proudly working with Genting Casinos UK to scope and develop an employer-led apprenticeship standard and end-point assessment as a collaborative industry project. There is no apprenticeship standard specifically for the gambling industry and for colleagues who work in customer facing roles in this sector. Working in partnership with Genting Casinos UK and other operators, we wanted to create a standard and end-point assessment, which when approved, enable employers to use their Levy funds to deliver a highly appropriate apprenticeship standard and take advantage of the business enablers that come with employing apprentices.

Mindful that the gambling industry is made up of different sectors (i.e. remote, casino, AGC etc) we propose to ensure that any apprenticeship standard takes accounts of these different sectors. Our initial thinking of how this might be achieved, together with a top-level introduction and proposed timeline is attached.

We have an initial meeting / workshop on Thursday 19 July to be held at Genting Resorts Birmingham. This initial meeting has two clear purposes (i) give interested operators an overview of apprenticeships and what we could be achieved together and (ii) enlist operators to join what is termed a Trailblazers Group to develop the standard and end-point assessment. We are keen to move in a timely manner with this piece of work and we plan to have the apprenticeship standard and end-point assessment approved by the Government by December 2018, which will enable operators to deliver bespoke gambling industry apprenticeships for colleagues as from January or February 2019.

To date the following operators have confirmed their interest: PaddyPower Betfair / Hippodrome Casino / Genting Casinos UK / GVC Holdings / Sky Betting & Gaming / Playnation and Gametec / Luxury Leisure / Ritz Casino / Rainbow Casino / Praesepe, however we have a couple more places left. Do get in touch if you are an operator who has employees based in England in customer facing roles; if you pay the levy and if you’d like to develop something purposeful and unique for future employees.

This piece of work forms part of the National Responsible Gambling Standard as an industry collaborative project to minimise gambling-related harm. To download an overview of what we are seeking to achieve together, please CLICK HERE.
